POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates and directs the activities of the specified department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns.

· Coordinate the execution of daily activities and job tasks for personnel in their area of responsibility to match the priorities set by planning and scheduling.

· Respond to needs of personnel in your area including shop supplies, tooling and part needs, paperwork completion prior to and at completion of tasks or any other typical production issues.

· Collect information for write-up documents, monitor use and process of the velocity boards.

· Record and provide daily job status to supervision for visibility to operations and sales teams.

· Act as backup supervisor in the absence of the division supervisor performing all tasks required to meet operational needs to include encouragement and enforcement of safety, quality and production standards, time tracking, job planning and write-up, ERP and work order processing and assisting scheduling.

· The Lead Person is an extension of supervision and should be considered as having authority to manage and direct work flow. However, disciplinary action as a result of Non-Conformance or Policy violations must be communicated and coordinated with supervision and management.

· Provide training and technical support when required, ensure training is documented and turned in to supervision.

· Mentor and assist in the development of department talent.

· Analyze component condition and help to resolve and assist co-workers in technical problem solving.

· Provide leadership and guidance to other work related concerns.

· Continuously strive to improve safety, quality and efficiency standards.

· Perform routine tasks as described in regular job function when necessary.

· Identify and record action items that need to be reviewed and / or addressed.

· Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, work processes, equipment use / operation, safety needs, etc.

· Must maintain a good attendance record and exhibit the highest level of professional conduct at all times.

· Performs additional duties as assigned.

· Operating a 4500hp Taylor dyno

· Install and remove large industrial diesel engines on dyno

· Perform full dyno test and tune as per procedure

· Operate dyno software (Power Test / Tayor) testing equipment

· Review dyno testing data and confirm pass or fail statuses based on predetermined specifications

· Troubleshoot large industrial diesel engines performance issues and diagnose/repair faults

 

DECISION MAKING:

Position will be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department.

 

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Position requires collaboration with department managers and current/potential customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

1. Firm knowledge of department operation and scope of work.

2. Work related experience should include the areas in which they would be responsible for and the ability to expand that experience.

3. Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.

4. Understands customer service and can response to changing customer needs as directed.

5. Strong leadership qualities necessary to build team work, motivate and hold team members accountable to job tasks, company policies and strategy.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the accountabilities of the job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, feel with their hands, reach and handle materials weighing up to 10 pounds. The employee will frequently need to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, walk and handle materials weighing 10-20 pounds. On occasion the employee will need to handle materials weighing 20-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include; close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving objects (materials handled and transported throughout the plant via cranes, fork trucks and other employees). The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The employee is also frequently exposed to sharp and abrasive edges which may result in scrapes, cuts and bruises. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
