POSITION SUMMARY:
Under little to no supervision, the Mechanical Engineer IV, utilizes their degree and advanced experience to provide high level engineering support to the company through complex engineering design, product development, product support and warranty support. Assigned projects are critical/advanced in nature with little to no oversight. Assignments are completed independently or directing a team. The Mechanical Engineer IV is considered a subject matter expert (SME) in many areas of the business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Safety - conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Safety is # 1.
· Provide Engineering support to all areas of the business, such as Production, Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Inventory, Marketing, etc.
· Create and maintain bill of materials and manufacturing routings.
· Create new and maintain existing part numbers.
· Lead, direct or assist reverse engineering projects.
· Review and mark up new and existing engineering drawings.
· Lead, direct or assist the design and development of new products.
· Assist Quality Control by checking dimensions, surface finishes, hardness and analyzing material.
· Lead, direct or assist the design and development of production tooling.
· Investigate warranties and failure analysis.
· Other tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering required.
· Minimum of 12 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
· Fluency in Inventor (or similar CAD software) and Microsoft Office programs.
· Experienced with ERP systems.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals.
· Experienced working in a manufacturing environment.
· Experienced operating CNC and manual mills and lathes.
· Strong understanding of hydraulic cylinder design
· Experienced in welding and weld design.
· FEA experience.
