Position Summary
Job Description
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to meet customer needs by machining parts in a safe and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy machinist environment by adhering to organization standards and policies,
and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns
· Use mathematical and mechanical reasoning to solve problems by making calculations to fabricate and repair
parts to specification
· Prepare for shift by performing machine inspection
· Inspect finished parts by performing visual examination, measuring part for conformance to specification, signing
off on work orders, scribing parts, and placing on skid
· Determine order of fabrication for parts by reviewing work order
· Align and secure parts into holding fixtures by placing parts into jig or vice and tightening screws to hold part
secure during machining process
· Monitor machine process by watching speed and feed of machine and examining part in process to identify
developing problems
· Fabricate parts to specification by determining size, center points, shape, and tolerances through evaluating
blueprints, drawing, and sample parts and devising sequence of operation to build part through machining process
· Perform daily preventive maintenance by checking site glass to determine lubricant is adequate, adding lubricants
and documenting checklist
· Move parts and supplies by using overhead cranes/lifts, dollies, and fork trucks
· Salvage old parts by removing unusable parts and replacing with new part, signing work order to finalize job or
continuing process by forwarding to other departments
· Perform precision machining operations by operating machinery (lathes, grinders, milling machines, and saws)
and using measuring devices to shape and form to specification
· Test fit of mating parts by checking grooves for compatibility, assembling together and making visual inspection
for proper seating, initializing work order, and placing on skid
· Perform job to specification by using dial calipers, inside/outside micrometers and dial indicators
· Adjust machinery by determining feed and speed need for metal properties, moving knobs, and turning screw and
valves to appropriate settings
· Identify unsatisfactory parts by making visual examination to identify defects or deformities, and correcting
defect or rejecting by documenting work order and sending to others for correction
· Communicate work flow/productivity to team members on alternate shifts and team leaders and required
· Performs other duties as assigned

· Have excellent organization skills
· Handle rush orders as the need arises and have flexibility to change routines
· Demonstrate accuracy in working with detail
· Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
· Effectively share information in one-on-one and small group situations
· Apply common sense understanding to carry out oral and written instructions
· Have ability to deal with problems in standardized situations · Have ability to multitask · Begin and complete a project with moderate supervision EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. At least one year manual lathe work experience or equivalent education is preferred
