The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Workshop Manager with experience leading multi-disciplined teams to join our dynamic team in Mackay. In this permanent full-time role, you will be responsible for managing and priorising the schedule of work within the branch, as well as supervising teams in the workshop and stores departments to best meet customer requirements.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Workshop Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures, including facilitation of pre-start and toolbox talks, communication of new and updated requirements, and participation in investigations and improvement initiatives,
  • Supervise and lead a team of 15-20 employees, including Diesel Fitters, Trade Assistants, Store Persons and Apprentices,
  • Manage the production process from end to end, including associated tracking, reporting, administration and communications,
  • Oversee Work Order quoting, third party repairs, maintenance scheduling, quality assurance and compliance activities,
  • Implement systems to optimise workflows, minimise costs, and improve efficiency,
  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager and HR, work to recruit, develop and retain the right people with a focus on future growth, knowledge and training,
  • Liaise with other departments, including Engineering, Safety, Sales, Finance, and HR.

About You

Our aim is to provide the best customer service through an empowered, talented, and responsive team. To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

  • Trade qualified in an engineering discipline (advantageous)
  • Tertiary qualification in Management, or significant experience,
  • 5+ years in a similar position, ideally in mining services or dealing with heavy mobile equipment,
  • Knowledge of current OH&S legislation and best practice,
  • Computer literacy; knowledge of Pronto or equivalent ERP system would be advantageous,
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills in a production, workshop or warehouse environment,
  • Effective and adaptable communication and leadership skills.
