Position Summary

Job Description

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to tear down, clean, inspect, and rebuild heavy equipment drivetrain components as defined

in work order and ISO process instructions. Team members specialize in a specific area or areas as assigned by their

supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards and policies.

· Ensure precision equipment and tooling is maintained by following scheduled maintenance plans. This includes

keeping tools clean, calibrated and stored in a secure location.

· Inspect component using precision measuring equipment and nondestructive test methods to ensure parts are

within tolerance according to work instructions and quality guidelines.

· Move parts by operating overhead cranes, jib hoist, pallet jacks, tuggers, carts, and dollies.

· Follow manufacture and in house documentation and procedures to execute the safest and most efficient

component assembly/disassembly/inspection process.

· Perform assembly/disassembly/inspection tasks by using tools such as, gas torches, welders, hydraulic rams,

presses, electric and hydraulic wrenches, ½ to 1 inch drive pneumatic impact wrenches and various high speed air

tools.

· Work with the component preparation crew to assure parts are clean prior to inspection and assembly.

· Ensure mating parts are compatible by checking tolerances for proper fit.

· Inspect parts received from parts preparation area by examining bearing bores, wheels, gears, shaft bores, carriers,

dimensions, and sealing surfaces.

· Properly complete the appropriate inspection documentation and list out parts that need replaced.

· Document, including photographs, any damages found during the teardown and inspection process.

· Be able to identify parts and components by product number and compare to corresponding work order.

· Writeup parts for outside vendors or in house machine work by tagging and completing the appropriate forms.

· Visually inspect all used and new parts during assembly to ensure a quality rebuild.

· Once experienced, participate in the training of new team members.

· Perform more duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. At least one-year mechanical work experience or equivalent education is preferred.
