POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Production Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the production department.  This position will make decisions regarding service exchange product requirements, coordinate outside services to meet internal scheduling requirements, coordinate with the Purchasing and Warehouse to ensure that material availability meets scheduled job requirements, maintain work order details per inspection scope of work, close child work orders, issue child work orders to parent work orders and assist in achieving customer expectations with urgent projects. Communicate with sales group issues relative to deliveries; avoiding unachievable deliveries and maintaining company integrity. Assist with the creation of job travelers complete with drawings, technical requirements, specifications required to complete work, work with Engineering to develop and maintain bill of materials for products. This position will report to the Production Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Safety is # 1.
  2. Review service exchange inventories and determine the need to complete or inventory incoming service exchange cores.
  3. Create outside service requisitions and any purchase requisitions for consumables.
  4. Modify work orders to match inspection documents to ensure accurate quoting.
  5. Coordinate with Scheduler, Purchasing, and Warehouse to ensure upcoming scheduled jobs have all required material and is properly staged.
  6. Close child work orders and issue them to parent work orders. Create job travelers and maintain all work order details per inspection scope of work.
  7. Close parent work orders.
  8. Manage part exchanges in and out of service exchange components.
  9. Coordinate urgent Customer needs through the production shops. Communicate with sales group and customer service on issues relative to Customer needs.
  10. Assist front line supervisors in coordinating with internal suppliers to achieve production scheduling requirements.
  11. Assist in the quoting process when the CSR is absent, or the work volume requires.
  12. Work with Engineering and Production supervisors on bill of materials to maintain accurate part call outs and standard labor times.  
  13. Other duties/special projects as assigned.

 

DECISION MAKING:

Position will be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department.

 

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Position requires collaboration with Production Supervisors, Production Leadmen, Production Scheduler, Estimator, Warehousing and Engineering.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

  • HS Diploma or GED (equivalent)
  • 3-5 years’ experience as shop repair mechanic, planner or service writer. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Must have intermediate/advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite (*MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Internet
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in the mining and/or industrial sector.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Technical degree or certifications
  • Working knowledge of the mechanical functions of heavy mining equipment with an emphasis on Wheel Groups, Suspensions, and Cylinders.
  • Operate office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, copy machine, fax machine, and multi- line telephone.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently and be a team player within the department and the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and be a problem solver.
  • Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Work in a fast pace environment and prioritize multiple work assignments.
  • Working knowledge of PRONTO ERP system.
