The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic  Senior Accountant to join our finance team based in Kewdale. In this permanent full-time role reporting to the Adelaide based Financial Controller, you will be responsible for working closely with our Perth based General Manager to provide day-to-day operational focused financial guidance.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilising strong communication skills to act as the conduit between finance and operational staff for project review and profit and loss analysis

• Review and complete individual project costings on service jobs, including commentary on variances to quotes, revenue recognition assessments and all associated project closure journals

• Work in progress project management, responsible for timely project closure

• Monthly preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations, investigate differences and/or anomalies

• Assistance with annual audit and year-end closings and support documentation and schedules required for statutory financial statements

• Preparation of monthly financial reports, complying to AASB/IFRS for review with Financial Controller, including:

  • Reviews of major variance to budget

  • Preparation and posting of EOM general journals        

  • Employee liability provision reconciliations

• Calculate and prepare tax computations and returns for payroll tax, BAS/GST, income tax, FBT, statutory payroll deductions and other taxes as required

• Capital Expenditure Applications, ROI Assessments

• Maintenance of the fixed asset register

• Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts

• Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures

About You

To be considered for this position you will have:

• Experience in accounting for a manufacturing or mining environment (essential)

• Experience working in an operationally focused finance role

• Ability to build strong relationships within a business, where staff may be remote to you, across multiple locations

• Outstanding communication skills across all levels of a business

• Ability to travel to workshops based in the Pilbara and on the East Coast sporadically

• Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent, is desirable

• Experience with Pronto or equivalent ERP system, is desirable

• Able to work in busy conditions, subject to tight timeframes and with competing demands
